In November of 2002, a young musician from Waterford, Ireland was visiting Milwaukee and staying with the Grandparents of one of our school families. The young musician was Vincent Adrian Moloney, "Vinny" as he was known to the children and the faculty. Vinny is quite an accomplished Oboist and plays in the Waterford Symphony when he is not traveling. As Vinny was planning to be around through the Christmas holidays in 2002, he offered to help Mrs. Gotthardt put the Christmas Program together with the children. Vinny asked if Veritas Academy had a song to call their own and of course at that time we did not. As you may know from the first page of this site, Veritas was founded mere months before Vinny's arrival and we use the words of Pope John Paul II as our Credo:
Faith and reason are like two wings on which the human spirit rises to the contemplation of truth; and God has placed in the human heart a desire to know the truth - in a word, to know himself - so that, by knowing and loving God, men and women may also come to the fullness of truth about themselves.
His Holiness John Paul IIVinny took our Credo and set the words to music. When Vinny left after the holidays that year, he left a piece of himself behind, along with many new friend in America. All of us at Veritas Academy have been touched by his kind and selfless act of composing what is now the Veritas Anthem. The students of Veritas Academy performed the song for the first time in public at the 2002 Christmas Program, under the expert direction of Mr. Vincent Adrian Moloney.
Thank You Vinny,
The Veritas Academy Family
